About The Instructor:

Gwendolyn Galsworth is the leading expert in visual systems. She is president and founder of Quality Methods International Inc. (QMI), a training and consulting firm, specializing in the technologies of the visual workplace. A two-term Malcolm Baldrige examiner, Galsworth has helped numerous Fortune 1000 companies accelerate their rate of improvement and become more competitive through systematic, team-based methods.

These companies have included Alcoa Aluminum/Australia, Crompton Greaves/India, General Motors/Canada, Honeywell, ITT/Aerospace and Motorola among others. Previous to forming QMI in 1991, Dr. Galsworth directed the training group at Productivity Inc. In that capacity, she worked closely with Dr. Ryuji Fukuda (Sumitomo Electric) in adapting the CEDACÆ (cause-and-effect-diagram-with-the-addition-of-cards) method for American companies. She also worked with Dr. Shigeo Shingo (Toyota Production System) in developing Achieving Zero Defects Through Poka-Yoke Systems. During her tenure at Productivity, Dr. Galsworth made important contributions to Productivity's Visual Factory approach, SMED (single-minute-exchange-of-dies), TEIAN (worker-led suggestion systems), Hoshin Kanri/Strategic Matrix Planning (policy deployment), and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance/optimizing equipment availability).
