On a plane trip during spring break in 1990, Dr. Sherrie Ford read a book by Robert hall entitled Attaining Manufacturing Excellence. The book gave Ford an idea that has brought significant improvements to the economy in Athens-Clarke County.
Ford, vice president of economic development for Athens Area Technical Institute, came home and began developing a project that has become the Center for Continuous Improvement.
Through the Center, members can have experts in various fields come to Athens and restructure the way they do business, receive training and share ideas on operating more efficiently.
